MoMo Vancouver April 4th M2M (Machine to Machine)

Smile it’s Monday! Mark your calendar for the next MoMoVan on April 4. The topic, another one requested by the wireless community, is “M2M (Machine-to-Machine)”.  Machine-to-Machine (M2M) refers to technologies that allow both wireless and wired systems to communicate with other devices of the same ability.

At the recent CTIA 2011 in Florida, according to Wayne Ward, vice president of Sprint’s Emerging Solutions group, “M2M is the fastest-growing sector of the entire telecom industry right now.”  Wireless operators are racking up partners to embed machine-to-machine (M2M) connectivity in a range of devices.

Wireless M2M communications is a rapidly growing market, as an increasing number of applications are using integrated wireless communications capabilities. These include smart meters that monitor and communicate power usage to utilities and consumers; connected cars that offer emergency calling and internet connections for safety, convenience, and entertainment; industrial equipment with remote monitoring capabilities; wireless handheld payment processing machines; and innovative connected consumer devices like e-book readers, wireless health monitoring devices and personal navigation devices. According to estimated from ABI Research (News -Alert), worldwide cellular M2M connections will continue to grow at a rate of 26 percent per year through 2015, to a total of more than 297 million connected devices.  (Source:  Sierra Wireless press release Dec. 10, 2010)

We will accept up to five elevator pitches (concepts, start-ups, emerging and growing companies) relevant to this topic, provided we receive them by Friday, April 1. We also have room for one Panel Sponsor and one Event Sponsor.  Great value for the money.

Speakers and panelist information coming soon.
